New Brunswick's Brace and LeBlanc shine at Desert Challenge Games

It was a hot weekend on and off the track in Tempe, Arizona for two of our para athletes Jacob LeBlanc of Moncton and James Brace of Intervale who competed at the Desert Challenge Games at Sun Angel Stadium. With temperatures rising to 47°C, both Jacob and James had very successful weekends in their respective events. Middle School Championships Recap

On Wednesday, June 14th the Moncton Stadium played host to the 6th annual New Brunswick Middle School Track and field Championships. Over 40 schools with a combined 400 athletes were in attendance. The cool, rainy weather did not hold the athletes back from having great performances both on the track and in the field. Athletics New Brunswick athletes James Brace of Intervale and Jacob Leblanc of Moncton head to Arizona this week to participate in the 2018 Desert Challenge Games. These games are held in conjunction with the only North American World Para Athletics Grand Prix event which will run Friday and Saturday at the Arizona State University Joe Selleh Track. The NBIAA Track & Field Championships took place this past Saturday at the Moncton Stadium in Moncton. The province’s best high school athletes were in action, having qualified for the championships through regional competitions the previous weekend. Run Jump Throw Wheel Series ready to kick off!

Athletics New Brunswick is pleased to announce that the Run Jump Throw Wheel Series is returning to NB for the fourth year! Over 1500 young athletes took part in this program last year. Regional RJTW competitions are open to all athletes ages 8-13, with the top eight finishers in each event qualifying to compete in the Provincial Championships (July 8 in Moncton).  Athlete of the Month

Athlete of the Month (May 2018): Jordan Henri. At the NBIAA North-East Regional Qualifier, Jordan Henri of Moncton broke the youth and junior provincial records in the 200m with a time of 21.91. The time ranks Jordan first in Canada among youths and betters the standard to be selected to represent Canada at the Jamaican U18 Invitational, taking place in Kingston, Jamaica at the end of June.
