Sarah MacPherson won a bronze medal with a 4:35. Ryan Cassidy ran a huge personal best, 4:08, to take the silver in the midget boys 1500 meters. Rounding out the day the juvenile girls 4 x 400 meter relay placed 3rd with a time of 4:05. Members of the team are Grace Annear, Rebecca Barton, Jocelyn Lockhart & Sarah MacPherson. Congrats to all on the MANY personal bests as the athletes headed back to the residence for a well deserved rest as they prepare for as good or even better day on Sunday. Relay Teams Shine At Hershey North American Final
Motivated by the cheers of Olympics legends Carl Lewis, Bruce Jenner and Rafer Johnson, sixteen 4x100 relay runners from New Brunswick competed at the Hershey North American Track & Field Finals in Hershey Pennsylvania on August 2nd. The team was the largest contingent ever for NB.
The Girls 11-12 4x100m relay team, made up of MacKenzie Amos, Cassidy Richards, Alyson Colpitts and Kylie Paulsen (All of Fredericton)came 5th with a time of 58.98 which was over a second faster than their qualifying.
In the Boys 13-14 4x100m relay, the New Brunswick team of Trevor Floyd (Hampton), Intekhab Hossain (Saint John), Tommy McGinn (Fredericton) and Mathieu Boudreau (Shediac) ran to a strong 6th place finish improving their result by over a second in a finish time of 50.20.
Four Saint John area youth made up the Boys 11-12 4x100m relay. Anthony Cormier (Saint John), Joshua Shanks (Chance Harbour), Benjamin Fowler (Grand Bay/Westfield) and Alec Alston (Welsford) ran to an 8th place finish equaling their qualifying time of 58.69. |
