Apr 19 2018 - Invitation to Attend ANB Semi-Annual General Meeting

All club representatives, athletes, coaches, administrators, and interested parties are invited to join staff and board members at ANB’s SAGM, which this year, will focus on discussions, ideas, and possible initiatives to implement in our next 2019-23 Strategic Plan, as well as our ANB Wall of Fame. Regular set of financials, staff and committee reports will also be remitted and be opened to questions and discussion. The SAGM is set to take place at the CEPS Building of the Université de Moncton campus on April 29th from 1:00pm - 3:30pm.

In preparation of the Strategic Plan review session, we wish to invite all members of the Athletics community to write to us ahead of your ideas/thoughts regarding the following:

- What do you believe should be the two primary priorities for ANB in its next strategic plan?
- What are two major developments you would like to see for ANB over 2019-2023?
- What are the two things/development (within our sport) you would like to see within your local community over 2019-23 period?
- Any other matters you feel ANB should consider as part of its Strategic Plan review?

Please send your comments by email to marc.lalonde@anb.ca

Background Information – Progress Review Regarding ANB’s 2014-2018 Strategic Plan

The progress made over the past 4 years has largely been in 1) attracting large numbers of U13 youth to try the sport under our RJTW initiatives, 2) increasing our competition offering all the while 3) ensuring quality competitions. Over that period we have also increased our services with the addition of a full staff position. Various metrics also confirms that we continue to build a strong group of Elite athletes all the while broadening the talent base at the youth level (13-18). Our University programs at both UNB and U. de Moncton also continue to grow in terms of quality, participation and performances, which in turn, is providing attractive options for youth to pursue post-secondary studies in New Brunswick.

We have struggled in other objectives in particular at attracting more coaches and officials to the sport. Through the summer program hiring (up to 7 per summer season) we have been able to meet demand for now. Clubs meanwhile are constrained by the lack of new coaches as well as basic facilities in a number of regions. This lack of resources is a concern especially when one considers the influx of U13 youth who are being attracted to the sport and will be looking for a support base to continue.
