Two Provincial Records and Record Attendance at 6th Annual Gagetown Indoor Meet
Morgan Hawkes topped off her list of 2006 athletic achievements with a new provincial indoor record in the bantam girls 800m event. Morgan's time of 2:22.80 improves on the time set by Teri Allaby of 2:28.14 at the Gagetown Indoor meet in 2003. Matthew Davenport, in his first attempt at a hurdle event, established a new provincial indoor record in the 60m hurdles with his time of 10.63. The previous record was held by Alex Stuart of South East Athletics.
This year, 175 athletes competed at the Gagetown Indoor Meet, eclipsing the previous attendance record of 149 set in 2004. Full results for the meet are available here.

New Brunswick Athletes attend Atlantic Cross Country Championships
Nearly 20 runners from New Brunswick attended the annual Atlantic Cross Country championships in Halifax’s Point Pleasant Park on November 5th 2006. Four female runners from N.B. were medalists with Sarah Myatt of Fredericton placing 2nd in Midget women, Genevieve Lalond of Moncton finishing 2nd in senior women, Lindsay Hachey of Moncton placing 3rd in the Juvenile women’s event and Morgan Hawkes of Fredericton placing 3rd in the Bantam women’s race. Nick MacMackin of Quispamsis and the Saint John Track Club was the lone male medalist with a 3rd place finish in the Bantam men’s 2 km race.
