Four Athletes Selected to National Cross Country Teams
Athletics New Brunswick is pleased to announce that four athletes, who competed last month in the National Cross Country Championships in Guelph have been selected to represent Canada at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics association championships, better know as NACAC, and the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.
Geneviève Lalonde of Moncton and Barry Britt of Hampton will be competing in the Junior Women's and Junior Men's races at the NACAC championships with Sarah MacPherson of Fredericton selected as an alternate. Joël Bourgeois of Grande-Digue has been selected to represent Canada in the Senior Mens division at these championships, which take place on March 1st at the Walt Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
Following the NACAC championships, Geneviève and Joël will be travelling to Edinburgh, Scotland as part of the team representing Canada at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where over 80 countries will have teams representing their nations. This event will take place on March 26th. Besides these two outstanding athletes, it should be noted that Barry has also been selected as an alternate on the junior men's team.
