NB Runners at World Cross Country in Edinburgh
Canada placed fifth in the women’s junior team standings on Sunday at the cross country running world championships. The Canadian team members included Geneviève Lalonde of Moncton, NB who placed 36th in the individual six kilometre race. Congratulations to Geneviève in her first World XC championships.

Atlantic Indoor Championship
Despite Friday's snow the Atlantic Indoor Championship saw the largest attendance this century with 161 athletes competing and four new provincial records being established.
Jennifer Bursey of the Fredericton Legion Track Club hurdled to a new NB Indoor Junior Women's 60m Hurdle record by winning her race in 9.55 seconds and eclipsing the 12-year-old record set by Isabelle Despres. In the women's 3000m race, Sarah MacPherson of the Fast Tracks cruised to NB Indoor Juvenile and NB Indoor Junior records with her time of 10:03.55. The previous record was 10:16.03 set by Geneviève Lalonde of South East Athletics. In the women's shot put, Chelsea Whalen set a new NS provincial record for juvenile women with her throw of 12.68m.

Run, Jump, Throw (RJT) is Athletics Canada's official grassroots program of physical activity for children and youth. RJT contributes to the development of fundamental motor skills such as running, jumping, and throwing through a series of lessons that focus on skill acquisition, sport education and participatory/team competition. The program is designed to give children a strong background in sport skills that will serve them well in other sports and throughout their lives. Level 1 Officials Clinic
Leading to the 2010 World Junior Track and field Championships, the City of Moncton together with Athletics New Brunswick is recruiting volunteers who wish to be part of this great event and are hosting the first “Level 1 Officials Clinic” on March 28th.
Where: Univérsite de Moncton CEPS Building Room 250
When: Friday March 28th starting at 6:30pm-9:30pm. The next day Saturday March 29th starting at 10:00am, the Atlantic Indoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted in the CEPS field-house and we hope that many of the volunteers who attend the clinic will be able to start their certification process to become a qualified official.

Mar 2 2008 - Canada dominates continental cross count
Canada dominates continental cross country running championships
ORLANDO – Canada won six gold medals on Saturday at the North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) cross country running championships. Canadian runners won three of the four events in both the individual and team races with team wins in Junior Men/Women and Senior Women.
Our NB Runners also performed exceptionally well. Geneviève Lalonde of Moncton was sixth in the Junior Women. Barry Britt or Hampton was sixth in the Junior Men.
