Apr 25 2011 - Genevieve Lalonde wins first race of the season
Ypsilanti, MI – Genevieve Lalonde opend up her 2011 outdoor season in style at the EMU Twilight Invitational in Ypsilanti, Michigan winning the 3000m Steeplechase in a time of 10:15.16. This results give the Moncton athlete the fastest time in Canada. Genevieve set a personal best and North American Junior record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:57.74 when she finished 6th at the IAAF World Junior Championships held last July in Moncton.
Apr 23 2011 - Rick Stocker named Athletics Canada official of the year!
The National Officials' Committee (NOC) of Athletics Canada meetings were held this past weekend in Winnipeg. Athletics New Brunswick is VERY pleased to announce that Marg Stocker was named to the NOC Wall of Honour for 2010, and Rick Stocker was named NOC Official of the Year for 2010. Congratulations to Marg and Rick!! Marg and Rick have been involved in officiating for many years and have done a tremendous amount to promote the sport and officiating. They have certainly earned the respect of those of us here in NB as well as nationally and internationally. Both were key officials for the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton.
Apr 18 2011 - Barry Britt at 53rd Annual Mt. Sac relays
Barry Britt competed at the 53rd Annual Mt. Sac relays in Walnut, California this past weekend. The Hampton, NB athlete who runs for the University of Idaho was able to finish in 9th in the men’s 5000m in a very competitive field. His time of 14:08.90 is the 3rd fastest ever run by a New Brunswick Athlete. Way to go Barry!!

During this week of National Volunteer Week (NVW) Athletics New Brunswick would like to take this time to thank all of its officials, coaches, board members and other volunteers.

This year's 68th annual NVW takes place the week of April 10 to 16. It is Canada’s largest celebration of volunteers, volunteerism, and civic participation.
Apr 12 2011 - 2011 Atlantic Coaching Seminar
The 2011 Atlantic Coaching Seminar is quickly approaching. This years seminar will take place from may 19-23rd at Mount Allison University in Sackville. N.B. There will be a Club Coach (Level 2) course offered for all event groups that have enough interest (Jumps, Sprints/Hurdles, Throws, Endurance, Wheelchair Racing). . Apr 11 2011 - Mike LeBlanc at Texas Relays
Congratulation to Michael LeBlanc for opening up his outdoor season in style this past weekend finishing 9th in the 100m in a wind aided 10.34. Later in the afternoon Mike lead off Canada’s 4x100m relay and had an incredible leg and exchange , unfortunately Team Canada dropped the baton on the last exchange. We also have to acknowledge PEI’s Jared Connaughton who won the 100m in a wind-aided 10.04 which is the fastest time in the world this year!

Apr 11 2011 - Caleb Jones wins first event of 2011
Despite very cold and windy condition Caleb Jones was able to win his first outdoor Competition of 2011. The Javelin thrower competed at the 32nd Sun Angel Track Classic in Tempe, Arizona and with a throw of 64.41m won by over a meter.
Apr 6 2011 - Shayne Dobson at National Camp
Congratulation to Shayne Dobson who is currently at the Athletics Canada Para Athletics camp down in Clermont, FL. Shayne was invited by the National Team to spend a week to train alongside national team members. He is definitely an athlete to keep an eye on at the national and international level .
Apr 4 2011 - 2011 legion coaching application
Applications are now being accepted for the Coaching positions for the 2011 Royal Canadian Legion and Athletics Canada youth championships. This year’s championship will be in Ottawa August 3rd to 9th.
