Oct 17 2018 - NBIAA Provinicial's set for Moncton
Bernice MacNaughton High School will host the 2018 NBIAA Cross Country Championships in Moncton on Friday, October 19th. This is sure to be an exciting day of races with many up-and-coming runners competing for top notches in the NBIAA rankings. Some of the following athletes and teams are who to keep an eye on:
Jr. Girls 4km action will see a tough competition between Erin Vringer of Saint John High School and Emily Doucet of M-F Richard, who both clocked in a time of 16:06 in their respective regional competitions last weekend. Hannah Lipton Levyssohn of MacNaughton and Shelby MacIsaac of Riverview will also play an important role in the race. Team titles will see SJHS and Mathieu-Martin neck and neck for the accolades.
Jr. Boys action will also be an exciting race between Mathieu-Martin’s François Richard, École L’Odyssée’s Cassidy Balfour, and Mathieu-Martin’s Andon Morneau, who all go into provincials with a regional seed time of sub-15 minutes in the 4km.
Mathieu-Martin and Fredericton High both have strong Senior Girl’s teams with Isabella Lemaire, Leila Cartier, Elisabeth Vigneau, and Catherine Thériault in top seeds for Mathieu-Martin, and Danielle Keefe, Mackenzie Hall, Hannah Trites, and Emily Trites who all took top spots at last weekend’s South West Regionals. It will be a close race for the NBIAA title in this category.
Senior Boys action will see Tristan Morneault of Mathieu-Martin, Julien Thibodeau of Nepisiguit and Nick Fletcher of MacNaughton battle it out for the senior boys 6km title. In team scores, Nepisiquit and Hampton High will duke it out for the number one spot.
