Oct 31 2018 - Atlantic Championship Highlights
On Saturday, Odell Park in Fredericton was host to the Atlantic Cross Country Championships! It showcased some of the best cross country talent from the Atlantic provinces.
The athletes who were 5 and under ran a 500m race, on the girls side Ella Leblanc won in a time of 2:49.90, Eve Landry took second in 2:55.50, and Eva Boone took third in 3:19.80. On the boys side, Xavier Landry took first in a time of 2:47.80, William Thibault came second in a time of 2:59.70 and James Kaley came in third with a time of 3:03.30!
The 6-7 year olds ran an 800m race, with Addyson Maccurdy (3:19.20), Lily-Shae Lavallee (3:25.90), and Jeanne Filion-Landry (3:28.40) taking the top three spots on the girls side, while Oliver Burtt (3:18.60), Simon Babin (3:19.90), and Yannick Boucher (3:21.70) took the top three boys spots.
The 8-9 year olds ran a 1000m course where Madeleine Colpitts (4:20.10), Kate Doran (4:21.50), and Mallory Johnstone (4:22.60) were the top three girls. On the boys side, Grady Betts (3:56.40), Dax Yerxa (4:05.70), and Matteo Leblanc (4:07.70) took top placings.
In the 10-11 year old 1500m course, Felicia Mortimer (6:16.70), Anna Titus (6:25.71), and Ashley Newman (6:31.75) were the top three female finishers. On the boys side, the top three finishers were Caden Wolverton (6:00.60), Eric Desaulniers (6:04.80), and Cameron Maccurdy (6:09.60).
The 12-13 year olds ran a 2km course, where Bridget Lange finished in a time of 8:01.02, followed loosely by Nicole Trites in a time of 8:03.89, and Marin Macpherson in 8:17.33. For the boys, Owen Blacquier crossed the finish line in a time of 7:38.43, Aaron Partington in a time of 7:41.70, and Drake Pattison in a time of 7:58.06.
The 14-15 year olds ran a tough 4km course where Erin Vringer clocked in a time of 16:02.80, Sophie Peterson followed her with a time of 16:32.0, and Grace Richard in a time of 17:09.30. On the guys side, Cameron Harris crossed the line in a time of 16:01.60, followed by Andon Morneault in a time of 16:41.90, and Preston Dumbleton in 18:33.40.
In the 14+ category 6km, there were many different age categories represented, but the top three male and female runners were Joanne Reynolds (27.33.80), Tara Tremble (27:45.00), Bridget Keedwell (27:51.10), François Richard (23:18.10), Tristan Morneault (23:51.90), and Isaac McCardle (24:05.90).
