May 8 2019 - SJTC Twilight #1 Highlights
This past Monday, May 6th the first on the summer Twilight meets kicked off New Brunswick’s track and field outdoor season at the Canada Games Stadium in Saint John with over 90 athletes competing on a lovely evening for track and field action. Several great performances were recorded, a few of which are outlined below.
Rebecca Legace of the Saint John Track club set a new master’s record in the women’s shot put with a throw of 9.06 m as well as placing first in the hammer throw with a throw of 28.23m.
Abbigael Gaudry competing for Chebucto Athletics finished first in the 100m hurdles and long jump, with a time 15.76s and a jump of 5.21m.
On the men’s side Matthew Coolen of Halifast Athletics won the 100m with a time of 10.54s.
Craig Thorne competing for the Saint John Track club placed first in 400m (52.41s) and the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.51s beating the previous youth record by more than a second. However due to wind conditions, his performance will not count as a record.
