Jul 5 2019 - 40th final of the Jeux de l’Acadie
Over the past weekend the 40thfinal of the Jeux de l’Acadie took place in Grand Falls. It was perfect weather for some great performances!
Erika Desprès of the Southeast won three gold medals, one in the 100m (13.74), 300m (46.24) and also in the 4x100m relay.
Audrey Roy Beausoleil of the Southeast came first in the 2000m (7:28.02) and second in the 1200m (4:09.87).
Joel Gallant of the Southeast captured the gold in the 100m (12.24), silver in the 800m (2:17.03), bronze in high jump (1.50m) and another gold in the 4x100m relay.
Alexis Fournier of Restigouche finished second in the 1200m (3:58.78) and the 2000m (7:01.52)
Payton Sanipass of Kent came first in the shot put (12.72m) and third in the discus (29.44m)
Megan Murphy of Kent finished first in the 1200m (4:18.74) and second in the 800m (2:42.39)
Kristy Michaud of Madawaska-Victoria won the gold in the 150m (20.76), silver in the 80m (11.47) and bronze in the 4x100m relay.
Marie Eve Maillet of Kent came first in the discus (22.58m) and third in the javelin throw (27.39m).
Remi Ouellette of Southeast won triple gold this weekend. In the 100m wheelchair (34.55), para discus (13.30m) and para shot put (5.55m). His throw of 5.55m in the shot put allowed him to break the old record of 4.71m.
Danie Doucet of Kent won a total of three medals. Gold in the 100m wheelchair (40.10), gold in the para discus (9.82m) and silver in the para shot put (3.72m).
Southeast walked away with all three banners this year! The athletics 12-13, athletics 14-15 and the para-athletics 11-17.
