Nov 12 2019 - Cormier finishes USPORTS with Top 50 finish
Kingston, Ontario and the Queen’s University Gaels hosted the 2019 USPORTS Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 9th in what were cold, windy and muddy conditions. Four New Brunswick athletes competed in the National University championships.
On the women’s side, Hannah Cormier, competing for the University of New Brunswick Reds was the top New Brunswicker with a 46th place finish. Cormier, who finished fourth at the AUS Championships two weeks ago was the top AUS female finisher- an impressive feat on the hills of Fort Henry.
Sophie Black of the Univeristé de Moncton Aigles Bleues finished in 92nd over 8km and Kamylle Frenette of the Dalhousie Tigers finished in a respectable 126th.
On the men’s side, Isaac Cull of the University of New Brunswick Reds was the only New Brunswick male to run the 10km race, and finished in an impressive 66th place out of 143. Cull was the second AUS finisher, two positions above his fourth-place finish at the AUS Championships 2 weeks ago.
New Brunswick was well-represented at USPORTS with some great results, and we look now look forward to the Athletics Canada Cross Country Championships in Abbottsford, BC on November 30th, where there’s sure to be a strong contingent from the province.
