May 27 2014 - Team NB named for Jeux de la francophonie Canadienne
Team New-Brunswick’s coaching staff for the 2014 Jeux de la francophonie canadienne is proud to present to you this year’s Team NB for track and field! The following athletes will represent NB in Gatineau, Quebec from July 23 to 27 with the help of coaches Bruce Guitard, Alexa-Maude Mallais and Stephanie Doiron.
On the girls’ side, we can count on Maïka Martin from Bouctouche (javelin/sprints), Luisa Schwarz from Fredericton (mid-distance), Sara-Ève Noël from Allarville (throws), Isabelle Morris from Bellefond (throws) and finally Mélissa Pellerin from Dieppe (javelot/sprints). These girls are representing New Brunswick in the youth age category (16-18 years old).
For the midget age category (15 years old and under), we have Kayla Hughes from Cocagne (shot put), Sophie Black from Dieppe (jumps), Rachelle Haché from Miramichi (throws), Maude Cyr-Deschênes from Edmundston (mid-distance) and Marie-Pier Cloutier from Saint John (jumps/sprints).
On the boys side in the youth category we have Philippe Beaudin from Pigeon Hill (sprints), Samuel Guitard from Petit-Rocher (mid-distance), Pierre Dumouchel from Saint John (mid-distance) and Olivier Charron from Moncton (javelin/running).
For the midget category, we have James Cormier from Bouctouche (sprints/long-jump), Cameron Levesque from Drummond (sprints), Frédéric Savoie from Petit-Rocher (mid-distance), Pierre-Luc Mcgraw from Tracadie-Sheila (jumps), Marco Cormier from Saint-Louis de Kent (throws) and Samuel Brideau from Tracadie-Sheila (javelin/sprints).
To top it off, the team has named four female and four male substitutes. For the boys, we have Daniel Johnston and Vincent Bouchard in the youth category and Jarik Nait-Ajjou and Alex Roussel in the midget category. On the girls’ side there is Danielle Dumouchel and Christelle Frenette in the youth category and Danika Leblanc and Camille Richard in the midget category. These athletes are ready to intervene in case of injuries.
Gabriel Leblanc, Technical Director for Athletics New Brunswick says he is convinced that this year’s team has a good chance of beating Team NB’s record of 42 medals in Gatineau.
