NB Championship July 24th-25th

Posted on Jul 23 2021

Some exciting action is expected this weekend at the Croix-Bleue Medavie Stadium in Moncton, as some of New Brunswick’s top athletes will go head-to-head to crown the best in the events. We will be looking forward to seeing the event unfold once again after an unfortunate cancellation last year due to the well-known Covid-19 pandemic. After almost a year and a half of uncertainty, athletes are ready to show what they’ve been working on all this time.

Here are a few events that are worth mentioning:

Mens 100m/200m: Jordan Henri, the local upcoming sprint star is set to battle it out in the sprint famous 100/200 double against one of Nova Scotia’s top sprinter, Braden Harrison. Against them in the 200m will also be UofT sprinter, Jack Berkshire.

Mens 400m: The Men’s 400m could be an interesting turn of events as Berkshire will attempt to secure 400m gold as well. He will be challenged by STFX’s Timothy Brennan as well as the NS youngster, Zachary James.

Mens 1500m: We will have a field stacked with your talent coming into this one. In his first race of the season, Cameron Harris will be looking to edge out the top ranked U20 in the field, Fred Parent. Both youngsters will have their eye set on chancing down the 2 senior men in the race, ASEA’s Brandon LeBlanc and Athlétisme Chaleur’s Jonathan Roy. Other names to look for are Micah Griffiths and Julien Thibodeau.

Woman’s 100m/200m: In the Woman’s sprint double, Aetos’s Shelby McIsaac will be looking to take the win against Athlétisme Chaleur’s Éloïse Hachey to maintain her 10-race winning streak. Shelby will also be running the 400m.

Woman’s 400mH: It should be a tight battle in the Woman’s 400m hurdles as Emily Doucet and Janelle Allanach will race each other once again, but this time, it’ll be for the provincial title.

Action will start at 11am tomorrow as we kick off the 2021 NB Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

Spectators are welcome to come support the athletes while following the public guidelines put in place for the event. (Please read the “Public Health Guidelines” in the meet package attached)

Good luck to every athlete competing during our 2-day meet.
