NB Indoor Meet Recap

 Last weekend, to close out a busy January, the Saint John Reds Track & Field Club hosted the 2023 New Brunswick Indoor Championships at the Irving Oil Field House. The facility, which we saw built in 2019 had some blazing performances by many, with various athletes competing over multiple disciplines and coming out on top. Among those who were victorious in more than one event are the following:

- Isabella Parker (SJ Reds) in the U14 60m, 150m and long jump.

- Anna Somers (SJ Reds) in the U18 60m and 200m.

- Kim Roberts (Unattached NB) in the Masters 60m and 300m.

- Hannah Lavigne (Fredericton reds) in the U16 200m and 300m.

- Felicia Mortimer (SJ Reds) in the U18 600m and 800m.

- Allison Wasson (ASEA) in the U16 1200m and 2000m.

- Ariane Noel (ASEA) in the U18 high jump, long jump and shot put.

- Rebecca Lagace (SJ Reds) in the Masters shot put and weight throw.

- Heather LeBlanc (Aetos) in the Masters shot put and weight throw.

- Anthony Richards (SJ Reds) in the U16 60m and 200m.

- Dante Cormier (Aetos) in the U18 200m and 400m wheelchair.

- Samuel Lepage (Chaleur) in the U16 1200m and 2000m.

- Paul Gautier (SJ Reds) in the Masters shot put and weight throw.

In team scoring, the host club Saint John Reds came out victorious as Team Champions - with a total of 294 points. Following closely behind were Athletisme Chaleur Athletics with 244 points, and ASEA with 224 points. The Fredericton reds captured 145 points, while Aetos Athletica captured 82.

A congratulations are in order for all participants in the 2023 NB Indoor Championships, as well as all the university athletes who competed in the University Invitational in conjunction with this meet. We saw some of Canada's best athletes competing right here in New Brunswick!
