Insurance Update

Following a review of our association’s governing documents and communication with our insurer, Athletics New Brunswick will begin enforcing the requirement that athletes participating in sanctioned competition be members of the association, effective start of the 2025 outdoor season. Enforcement of this is necessary to ensure that all athletes participating in sanctioned competition are covered under the association’s insurance policy.

Competition organizers are responsible for ensuring that all registrants are Athlete Members of the association, and for charging the Temporary Membership fee to all registrants who are not. If using Trackie for registration, competition organizers can make membership number a mandatory field, which should assist in determining which athletes to charge the Temporary Membership fee to.

This notice also serves as a friendly reminder that coaches and officials are required to be Associate Members to participate in sanctioned competitions. By ensuring that all participants are registered members of the association and that there is adequate insurance coverage for their event, competition organizers can reduce the risk of liability in the unfortunate event of an accident.
