Athletics New Brunswick will send a strong contingent to this weekend’s Athletics Canada Cross Country Championship, being held in Ottawa, Ontario.

Geneviève Lalonde will headline the Athletics Canada Cross Country Championships this weekend. Lalonde, who championed the event back-to-back in 2018 and 2019, was looking for a three-peat in 2020, but the event was cancelled due to the pandemic. Lalonde, coming off an impressive Tokyo Olympics performance of a Canadian best-ever 11th place in the steeplechase, will look to become the Canadian Champion once again on Saturday at Wesley Clover Parks at 1:45pm EST.

Audrey Roy Beausoleil, currently ranked 4th in Canada in the 3000m for U18 girls, will toe the line in the U18 girls 4km at 10:45am, contesting for the Canadian title. Joining her on the line will be Nicole Trites, Gabby Kozak and Jessica White.

Mohamed Helal will run in the men’s 6km at 11:30am at Wesley Clover Parks.

Emily Trites, Emily Doucet and Ivy Bialowas will start the U20 women's 6km race at 12:15pm.

New Brunswickers will be out in full-force in the U20 men’s 8km race at 1:00pm. Francois Richard, Fred Parent, Jared Howse, William Boyle, Quinn Eberts, Sam Lamont, Kalevi Kahri and Cameron Harris will all be racing in the field and looking for some strong results amongst them.

In Open men’s action, Stephen Andersen and Ian Verschoor will race the 10km event at 2:30pm.
