Athletics New Brunswick Announces New Executive Director
Athletics New Brunswick is pleased to announce Samantha Stewart as our new Executive Director.
Samantha brings a valuable combination of provincial sport leadership, international competitive experience, and a commitment to creating opportunities for New Brunswick athletes. Having served as Executive Director of Lutte New Brunswick Wrestling since 2021, Samantha brings more than five years of hands-on experience in sport administration. Her work in financial oversight, strategic planning, program development, Safe Sport, and staff and volunteer leadership provides a strong foundation for supporting our athletes, coaches, officials, and clubs.
A World Championship bronze medalist and Commonwealth Games silver medalist in wrestling, Samantha understands the athlete journey from early participation to international competition. Her own sporting journey also included school cross country and track and field, and she brings more than 15 years of experience working with young athletes and volunteers through wrestling clinics and camps. With University of New Brunswick degrees in recreation and sport studies, psychology, and counselling, Samantha combines her sport management knowledge with skills in communication, relationship building, and supporting individuals and teams. Her work to expand French-language policies and communications also reflects her commitment to making sport more accessible to both linguistic communities.
Samantha’s collaborative, people-centred approach aligns with our vision of strengthening athletics across New Brunswick and supporting pathways from grassroots participation to high-performance. We look forward to the experience, perspective, and leadership she will bring to our athletics community. Samantha’s employment with Athletics New Brunswick will begin on October 5th.
